Rusty was born and raised in Fort Myers. He attended Fort Myers High School and graduated from Canterbury School.  After high school Rusty attended Carson Newman College in Jefferson City Tennessee.  He is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.  During his time in the Coast Guard Rusty was stationed in Seattle WA on the ice breaker Polar Sea making one trip north of the Polar Circle.  He was then transferred to Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach.  Because Rusty had grown up here and his parents had owned/operated Marina 31, he was brought back to FL for his local knowledge in performing drug enforcement boarding’s and inspections.  He was then transferred to Coast Guard Station Lake Tahoe CA.  It was there where he met his wife of 25 years, Jennifer.  They were married in Lake Tahoe and moved back to Fort Myers in 1987 and now live in the Three Oaks area of Fort Myers.

After moving back home to Fort Myers, Rusty and his father opened Pelican Foods, LLC selling wholesale foods to restaurants and resorts from Sarasota to Marco Island.  After selling Pelican Foods in 1990, Rusty went to work for Bonita Bay Group as an assistant golf professional at Bonita Bay West.  After seven years at Bonita Bay, he received an offer from a friend to help him build his business and he went to work for Physical Therapy Centers of SW Florida as the Office Manager while also performing outside sales.  It was there Rusty found his love for outside sales.  He decided to go to work for Dean Steel Buildings here in Fort Myers as a District Manager handling districts in South Georgia and Northeast Florida. Deciding to stay closer to home and he went to work for Kinco Windows and achieved great success.  During his seven years with Kinco he was top producer in the Fort Myers branch office 6 years.  Rusty also achieved #3 in sales for the company 3 times, #2 in sales 1 time and was the number 1 salesperson for the company for 2004, 2005 and 2006.  In 2005 Kinco was purchased by Atrium Windows out of Dallas Texas.  Atrium was at that time the largest residential window manufacturer in the United States.  In 2007 he was promoted to Regional Sales Manager overseeing all of south Florida. In 2007 Rusty was awarded the Presidents Circle award for most impact glass sold in the United States with over 8 million dollars in sales for the year.

Rusty and Jennifer have raised two beautiful daughters Holly and Emily, both graduates of Fort Myers High School.  Holly is attending Central Florida University in Orlando while Emily attends Edison College here in Fort Myers.  Rusty and Jennifer are members First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs.  They are also members of the Edison Pageant of Light.  Rusty is a third degree Master Mason.  Rusty and Jennifer are great sports fans rooting for the Miami Dolphins and the University of Florida Gators.  He enjoys fishing the shallows for snook, playing golf, the beach and playing with their two Shih Tzu’s, Daisy and Rowdy.
